Jason Eli Becker was born on July 22, 1969, in Richmond, California. He showed exceptional musical talent from a young age, mastering the guitar by his teenage years. Becker gained widespread recognition in the late 1980s and early 1990s for his virtuosic guitar-playing and songwriting abilities.

In 1988, at the age of 19, Becker joined the David Lee Roth band, replacing Steve Vai as the lead guitarist. His debut album with Roth, "A Little Ain't Enough," showcased his extraordinary skill and musical creativity.

Tragically, just as his career was taking off, Becker was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, in 1989, at the age of 20. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to loss of muscle control and eventually paralysis.
